
John Petrucci born July 12, 1967, he grew up
in Kings Park, New York, a small town on Long
Island. John picked up his first guitar at age 8
but shortly quit, he would later pick it up again
at the age of 12.
At age 18 he graduated and went on to study
music at the Berkeley College of Music in
Boston where he would cross paths with yet to
be drummer Mike Portnoy and bass player
John Myong for the band that was to become
Dream Theatre.
Along the years John Petrucci worked on many albums not to mention all Dream Theatre albums released, he also worked on a side project called "Liquid Tension" and has released a gutar instructional video titled "Rock Discipline" along with a book named "Guitar World present's John Petrucci's Wild Stringdom".
2001 saw John Petrucci join the G3 tour which featured Joe Satriani and Steve Vai with which would inspire him to work on his own solo project which was to be released on march 1 2005 entitled "Suspended Animation"
In the year 2011 John Petrucci was named "Best Metal Guitarist" in the Guitar Player's Choice Awards and one of the 20 greatest metal guitarists ever in a 2011 poll for Total Guitar.
