Joe Satriani born July 15, 1956 in Westbury,

New York, his career began on september

18, 1970, the same day Jimi Hendrix died it

was on this day that Joe Satriani had decided

to take up the guitar.

Long Island was his home town, 1977 was

the year when he would then leave to persue

his musical career starting in Berkeley in the

San Francisco area where he played in a pop

trio band named "The Squares" from 1979 till

1984, in his last year with the band he would

go on to release his own instrumental release titled "Joe Satriani", with only 500 copies being pressed.

The next record to come from Joe "Not of this Earth", was also self-produced and ended up getting him a recording contract with the label "Relativity". Joe then went on to join Greg Kihn's band with whom he made a record titled "Love and Rock' n' Roll" along with doing a tour.

Joe Satriani gave many lessons with some of the best shredders out there just to name a few Steve Vai, Kirk Hammet (Metallica) they even managed to make it big in the music business before he got his musical success many of the interviews and reviews would often mention Joe as being there guitar teacher!

Satriani finally hit it big with his instrumental song "Surfing with the Alien" with it getting in to the top 40 in America "not bad for an instrumental"

His techniques involve more mathematical driven concepts more than most guitarists along with the traditional "standard" blue licks.

Joe then puts a more technical spin on them often using a blues scale but with the approach of a "three note per string" along with his Mode choice being based around the tonic center.
